Not Kramer’s, it’s a book I found in the library a few days ago by Alexander Payne and James Zemaitis.

I skimmed through the book and obviously there was a lot of coffee tables, and a brief history for this piece of furniture, like the term ‘Coffee Table Book’ is originally American and became an international thing in the fifties.

Bilboquet Table, by Eileen Gray, 1915

Table Basse, Jean-Michel Frank, 1930
This feels really like a table at the edge of Modernism, this gridish stone like material and the round edges, I’d have one today.

IN-50, Isamu Noguchi, 1947
For some reason it feels like Le Corbusier’s figures.

Coffee Table, Abel Sorensen, 1948

Book Table, Samuel Marx, 1948
This table might have been the start of the trend of adding shelves for books magazines.

Janus Collection Table, Edward Wormley, 1956

OTW (Occasional Table Wood), Charles & Ray Eames, 1946

ETR (Elliptical Table Rod Base), Charles & ray Eames, 1950
I like Eames’ work, especially his Chair & Ottoman

Eames’ Lounge Chair & Ottoman

Coffee Table, George Nakashima, 1960s
Boring?

Quattroquarti, Ronaldo Bonetto, 1960s
Now that is handy, a lot like IKEA easy stuff.

Coffee Table, Minoru Yamasaki, 1972
Yamasaki is the architect of NY’s trade center.

Coffee Table, Gae Aulenti, 1980
I don’t like this.

Alanda, Paolo Piva, 1982

B.O.O.P. (Blown Out Of Proportion), Ron Arad, 1998
Gehrish huh?

Sydney, Joan Gasper, 2000
I like such sleek things, functional minimalism that is.

Solo Coffee Tables, Antonio Citterio, 2002

The H Coffee Table
I was thinking of making a new coffee table, my ‘H Coffee Table’ is kind of stationary, rather than practical I guess, I could add a drawer to its bottom ’shelf’ for more storage, but I want to make a new one, among other things, maybe.
Now since I don’t have enough space for a decent coffee table, I’ll just stick to this “coffee table”, a stool actually:

ROY Stool (Coffee Table in my case), Anna Von Schewen by IKEA
